With great care, Black and White split the disc-world into three.
Three worlds of equal size, with the same base creations upon them.
To keep them equally apart, White and Black worked the space between.
The space bent backward and inward, and so formed the globe-world.
Black filled the space between with water he had blessed with salt.
White established a space above the sky as a place of observation.
They made homes for each other at the world’s top and bottom.
The Black Palace of the North, the White Gardens of the South.
Black and White took turns watching over their daughters, after these works.
The time of White’s observance carried her color, and was called Day.
The time of Black’s observance carried his color, and was called Night.
So passed the first days and nights, but without true time-measure.
