II

The male Black and the female White were paired in perfect opposition.
Each provided balance to the other, each half to the other’s whole.
Her touch gave him a face and hands to touch her back.
His presence gave her a shape, a form which he could see.

There was nothing else in the void from which they had emerged.
And so, with nothing else to do, they explored each other’s bodies.
Black fit into White, White enveloped Black; one ending where another began.
In this manner, the young creators of the universe first made love.

Their union was not unlike the void from which they had emerged.
They mixed and twisted with each other, White’s soft body holding his.
And something new emerged between them, born in the belly of White:
A new color, a daughter, wild and warm.  She was called Red.
